Prof Robin Michael Braun

Robin Braun holds the Chair of Telecommunications Engineering in the Faculty of Engineering and Information Technology. He has been a Faculty member of the University of Technology, Sydney, Australia since 1998.

He is a Member of the Global Big Data Technology Centre, and is the Director of the BE(Hons) Data Engineering program.

He began his working career with Philips in Johannesburg, subsequently moving on to Plessey-Tellumat and the Department of Radiation Control in Cape Town. Interspersed with this he spent some years overseas, mostly in the UK. He was a member of staff of the Department of Electrical Engineering of the University of Cape Town from 1986 to 1998.

He was born in the North West Province of South Africa, but moved to George in the Western Cape at an early age. He received most of his schooling at SACS in Cape Town. He received his B.Sc(Hons) from Brighton University (UK), and his M.Sc and Ph.D from the University of Cape Town. He is a Life Senior Member of the Institute of Electrical and Electronic Engineers of the United States (IEEE).

Robin is married with three adult children and Ruby the dog.
